LOMAX - Doris Yvonne Spiker, 69, Lomax, died at
6:54 a.m. Saturday (March 24, 2007) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
She was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Edina, Mo., the daughter of William and Rosemary Aucutt McKinney.
She married O.D. Carpenter. She married Donald Spiker on Sept. 22, 1962, in Terre Haute. He died Dec. 22, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Shelly (and Brad) Hamilton, Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Robert (and Amanda) Carpenter and Jason (and Wendy) Spiker, both of Stronghurst; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a special friend, Kenneth Hudson.
She lived most of her adult life in the Lomax area.
She volunteered for the Lomax Food Pantry and was a member of Lomax Nazarene Church.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lomax Nazarene Church, with the Rev. John Bremer officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst; family will be present 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Crane Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lomax Food Pantry and Great River Hospice.

Born Dec. 4, 1937, in Edina, Mo., she was the daughter of William and Rosemary Aucutt McKinney. She married O.D. Carpenter. On Sept. 22, 1962, she married Donald Spiker in Terre Haute, Ill. He died Dec. 22, 1984.She lived most of her adult life in the Lomax area. She loved dogs, fishing, planting flowers and being outside, and was an avid collector of teddy bears. She was a volunteer for the Lomax Food Pantry, and a member of the Lomax Nazarene Church.Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Hamilton of Burlington; two sons, Robert Carpenter and Jason Spiker, both of Stronghurst, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.The funeral for Mrs. Spiker will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lomax Nazarene Church, with the Rev. John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Crane Cemetery in Lomax.Memorials have been established for Lomax Food Pantry and Great River Hospice.
