Keokuk, Ia., - Feb. 20 (AP) - Police are holding H. Lewis, a negro, as a suspect in connection with the slaying of Earl Paris, 31, night watchman at the Keokuk Box company sometime Saturday night.
Paris was found Sunday by Walter Bryant, day watchman. There was a bullet wound in his right breast. Death apparently had been instataneous. His body was found where he had fallen in the mud under a lumber wagon. His sister said he had ordered a man off the premises a week ago, and had carried an old fashioned pistol which with $4 was missing.

Keokuk, Ia., Feb 21. -- (AP) - After investigating the death of Earl Paris, a night watchman found slain here Saturday night, a coroner's jury today adjourned until Thursday to await further evidence.
Suspects taken into custody have established alibis, and officials still are searching for clews that may lead to the identification of the slayer.

Keokuk, Ia., Feb. 28. - (AP) - A coroner's inquest into the death of Earl Paris, killed here Feb. 18, yesterday resulted in a verdict of "death by external violence from the hands of a person unknown." Officials continued to investigate the slaying, which apparently was without motive.
