Richard L. Raasch:
59, of 7137 6th Street, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 after battling an illness at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital. He was born on September 10, 1952 in Janesville. He is the son of Bernice (Green) Gruba and the late Lawrence Raasch.
He entered the service on January 11, 1972, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Sergeant in the Air Force. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
He was honorably discharged on February 4, 1977.
His marriage to Elizabeth Nagorski took place on August 15, 1992 in Stevens Point. Richard worked for Kraze Trucking in Amherst as a truck driver. He was a member of the VFW Plover Post 10262. He enjoyed music, especially Elvis, motorcycles and restoring classic cars.
Survivors include his wife: Elizabeth Raasch of Stevens Point. Children: Michelle (Andrew) Campbell of Janesville, Melissa (Carlos) Duque of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lisa Raasch of Stevens Point, Laurie Raasch of Plover, Lacey Hintz of Kaukauna, Joshua DeKeyser of Stevens Point, and Ali Raasch of Stevens Point. Also survived by 14 grandchildren.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point. Deacon Vernon Linzmeier officiating. Visitation on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service with full military honors to follow the service. VFW ritual at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
