- As told by William Simola in September of 1998: When Ida came to the United States, she came to stay with her Aunt Edla Tammi Simola in Brimson, MN. When Sam Niemi started to court Ida, he used to come for her on a white horse. They would use this horse to go to the local dances at Petrall Hall. [1]
