Daughter of A. A. Cowden Married at the Home Yesterday
A very pretty wedding was solemnize, yesterday at the home of Police Officer A. A. Cowden, 706 South Choctaw, when his daughter Miss Velma, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Harry Magill Miller, Rev. Scott of the Baptist Church officiating.
The young bride is virtualy an El Reno girl having lived in and about El Reno for sixteen yearas, grown to womanhood and received her education here. She is pretty and accomplished, and her home town is proud of her.
Mr. Miller, the groom, came to El Reno from Milwaukee about three years ago, being in the employ of the Rock Island nearly all of that time. By his industrious habits and frugality he, while only a youth of twenty-two years has furnished a home to take his young wife to, to assume the responsibilites and happiness of wedded bliss. The young folks have been sweethearts for two years the courtship culminating in marriage yesterday.
After the ceremony a sumptious wedding dinner prepared by the bride's mother Mrs. A. A. Cowden, was served the happy couple, and relatives and guests numbering about thirty-five.
One unique feature of the event was the assembly of four generations of the Cowden family, the gray haired patriach, C. H. Cowden, aged 88, the veteran of three wars, his sons, S. D. and A. A. Cowden, their daughter, Mrs. Almer Brown, and Mrs. Benh, Kalphoff, and baby Brown and baby Kalphoff.
The young couple received many presents and a shower of congratulations from their relatives and friends. They will begin housekeeping at their furnished home at 721 South Bickford avenue.
The Democrat joins with their many friends in wishing the bride and groom a happy and prosperous life. [2]
