      Johnhenry A. Johnson, 76, Brimson, died Monday, February 4, 2002 at home.

      He was born October 18, 1925 to Carl Emil and Amelia (Olson) Johnson in Two Harbors. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was a heavy equipment operator working at the iron mines on the Iron Range, overseas in Turkey, Iceland, and Newfoundland, South Carolina in the construction of Hartwell Dam-Savannah River, in North Dakota constructing the Minutemen Missile Sites, and the construction of Reserve Mining Railroad grade and plant. He later worked for Reserve Mining Company in their track maintenance department retiring July 1, 1977. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Two Harbors, and a former member of Bassett Church. He was a member of Operating Engineers, Local 49 and United Steelworkers of America, Local 4757. He was an associate member of Brimson Area Volunteer Fire Department and active in and former member of Brimson Community Action Club, Petrell Hall Renovation Foundation, Sons of Norway, and North Star Draft Horse Association. He was a co-volunteer weather observer for the Brimson Station-U.S. Weather Bureau and co-caretaker of Brimson Cemetery. He was a volunteer driver for Salvation Army food baskets and St. Louis County Senior Adult Services.

      He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

      Johnhenry is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Hazel; daughter and sons, Cindy Johnson-Lambe of Two Harbors and Brian and Steven (Kay) both of Brimson; sister, Grace Elmstrand of North Branch, MN; and nine grandchildren.

      VISITATION: 10 AM until 11 AM services Friday, February 8, 2002 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
