    • Eugene Pioneer and Veteran of Civil War Succumbs
      George W. Cochran, a veteran of the Civil war and a pioneer resident of Eugene, died at his home a 948 Eleventh avenue west, Monday, following a short illness. He was 78 years old and since 1884 has lived in Eugene.
      Mr. Cochran was a native of Andiam county, Missouri. Her served with Company G, 133rd Illinois infantry, during the Civil war, having twice volunteered his service.
      Mr. Cochran was married at Quincy, Illinois, to Mary E. Senner, August 15, 1878. They resided in Springfield, Missouri, until coming to Eugene in 1884.
      The deceased is survived, beside his wife, by a brother, J. A. Cochran, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and four nephews, two of whom reside at Hood River and two at Carthage, Missouri.
      Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning at the Gordon and Veatch chapel, Reverend A. M. Spangler officiating.
