Mollie Wilson Dies As Result Of Operation
Widely Know Amherst Woman Succumbs at Fond du Lac Hospital Sunday

Mrs. Henry A. Wilson of Amherst, who was known to nearly everyone in the eastern half of Portage county as Mollie Wilson, died unexpectedly at St. Agnes' hospital, Fond du Lac, at 4:10 o'clock Sunday morning as the result of an operation for the removal of goitres the day before.
Mrs. Wilson was operated upon Saturday morning and five goitres were removed from her neck and throat. The operation was pronounced the most difficult in his experience by the attending specialist, who has had more the 26,000 cases of this character.
Mrs. Wilson came from under the anaesthetic quickly and her case seemed quite hopeful for a few hours in the afternoon, but she later sank into a coma and passed from life early the following morning. She had previously submitted to an operation for goitre 11 years ago.
      Family at Bedside
Mrs. Homer Hicks of Almond, a trained nurse, had been with Mrs. Wilson since she went to Fond du Lac last week Tuesday. Members of her family, including her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Munchow of Amherst, and her son Maurice Wilson of Kenosha, were there nearly all day Saturday, and her husband, H.A. Wilson, motored to that city, Saturday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Pomeroy. All were at Mrs. WIlson's beside during her last hours.
      Funeral Wednesday
The remains were brought to the family home at Amherst, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. William J. Corr, pastor of the Methodist congregation, and interment will take place in Greenwood cemetery.
Mollie Nelson, the maiden name of Mrs. Wilson, was a native of Amherst township and had made her home continuously in that neighborhood. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nels Nelson, among the earliest settlers in that locality and she was born on the old home farm December 9, 1864, making her 65 years of age last winter. Forty-five years ago next July 28 she was married at Pine River, Waushara county to Mr. Wilson, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Homer Orcutt. They returned almost immediately to Amherst village, and in the many years which followed Mrs. Wilson had taken a leading part in church, social and civic affairs.
      Long a Correspondent
She was secretary of the local library board, a member of the Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors and was especially active in the affairs of the Amherst Methodist congregation. For more than 20 years she had served as Amherst correspondent for the Stevens Point Daily Journal, and in this line of endeavor she was a faithful and conscientious worker. The news she gathered and wrote about Amherst folks and their affairs was always of wide interest.
      Members of Her Family
Members of her immediate family are the husband, daughter and son named above. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters Nels Nelson, Dousman, Wis; Timon Nelson, Amherst, Amherst; Lam Virginia, Minn; Gustave Nelson Gallowasy; Mrs. Robert Blair.
