Funeral services for Carl radtke, 78, Butterfield, were held Wednesday, Apr. 7 at First Mennonite church cemetery north of Butterfield. Officiating were his son, the Rev. Robert Radtke, and the Reverends Marvin Penner and Peter Tschetter.
Mr. Radtke passed away Sunday, apr. 4 at Mr. Lake Community hospital, following an illness of six weeks.
Surviving are his wife, Katheryn; three sons, Edward, Mt. Lake; Garry, Onida, SD., and Robert, Fresno, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Abe J. (Lorraine) Adrian and Mrs. Jacob K. Redekop, both of Mt. Lake; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Erpenstein, San Francisco, and Mrs. Emil (Bertha) Ziemans, Lodi, Calif., and a brother, Albert, Forest Lake. Also surviving is a half-brother, Herman Ehlers, also of Lodi.
Mr. Radtke was the son of Edward and Bertha Nibbe Radtke, born Mar. 28, 1898 at Willow Creek, Minn.
He married Kathryn Penner on June 10, 1920 at Mr. Lake. After their marriage the couple resided in California for a year and one-half, returning to the north Butterfield area in 1922 where he farmed and also operated a cream route. Mr. Radtke had also served on the Butterfield board of education and was township assessor.
In 1960 they moved into Butterfield, and for the following 16 years he had been employed by Peter Linscheid.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son-in-law, and a number of sisters and brothers.
Organist at the services was Mrs. Art Baerg.
Casket bearers were Larry Rahn, Roger Rahn, DeLyle Radtke, LeRoy Radtke, Verlo Adrian, and Mark Tate.
