Harold Munchow
Harold Munchow, 79, Amherst, died at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 14 days.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Amherst. The Rev. Lyndon Viel will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday at the Jungers Funeral Home, Amherst. Visitation will also be held at the church before the services.
Mr. Munchow was born May 17, 1894, in Appleton, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Munchow. He moved to Amherst in 1915 and operated a shoe repair shop. He later opened a shoe store and then retired in 1940.
His marriage to Bessie Wilson took place on June 1, 1918, in Astoria, Oregon.
Survivors include his wife and one brother, William, Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Munchow was preceded in death by four brothers.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Waupaca, the Tomorrow River Conservation Club and Selma Voigt Post No. 22, American Legion, Amherst.
Mr. Munchow was a World War I veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 2, 1918, in Stevens Point, and was discharged as a corporal on Dec. 27, 1918.
