Deceased Name: MOLLIE A. RADTKE
Mollie A. Radtke, 89, of Atwater passed away Wednesday, September 19th in a Modesto hospital. She was born January 30th, 1918 at American Falls, Idaho. She moved to Lodi in 1925 and to Atwater in 2005. Mrs. Radtke worked at Lodi High School (West Campus) as food service manager for 18 years.

She was a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lodi and most recently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Merced.

She will always be remembered for the loving care that she provided to her late husband, Orland E. Radtke, during his illness for five years prior to his death June 1st, 2005.

She thoroughly enjoyed caring for her and her family's nine cats who were always by her side or on her lap. She, also, enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables, fishing and traveling with her late husband and playing pinochle.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan and husband, Jeremy Potratz of Atwater; grandchildren, Anneka Rogers and husband, Seth Whitmore and Michael Potratz; sisters, Frieda Holmquist of Lodi and Amanda Beckman of Santa Cruz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Everyone is welcome to a memorial service Monday at 12:00 Noon at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2400 Oxford Way in Lodi.

A private family graveside will precede the memorial service at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday; 1:00pm to 5:00pm and Monday; 8:00am to 10:00am at GIERHART-WELLS & DONAHUE FUNERAL HOME, 123 North School St., Lodi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Peter Lutheran Church Wheelchair Accessibility Fund or to St. Paul Lutheran School in Merced. www.modbee.com/obituaries

CALAB ABELL was deceased by 1773 when MRS. MARY ABELL administered his estate, valued at £127 .16.08. The next of kin on his inventory were his minor sons CALAB ABELL and JOHN ABELL the youngest (114:31). MARY, the widow of CALAB ABELL married secondly JOHN SANNER, SR. JOHN SANNER did not give the final distribution of the estate of CALAB ABELL until 7/28/1801 (BFD JJ&JF .198). The widow received her one third and a share of the deceased childrens' estates. The residue of the estate went to the daughters ELIZABETH and MARY.

He married MARY CLARKE. CUTHBERT ABELL was a vestryman of AH Faith's in 1742. On 8/9/1744 he received 100 acres of "Wiseman's Chance" from CORNELIUS MANNING. In 1778 CUTHBERT ABELL, his sons CLARKE, PHILIP, and CUTHBERT took the Oath of Allegiance before ROBERT WATTS. CUTHBERT ABELL was an Anglican and is given in the 1769 pew rental of St. Andrew's Church sharing a pew with JOHN SMITH and CYRUS VOWLES.
CUTHBERT ABELL wrote his will in 8/1783 and it was probated on 1/3/1786 (JJ#1:357). He names his wife MARY. His son CLARK received part of "Abell's Chance" and "Will's Close". His son PHILIP received the mill, part of "Hopewell's Adventure" and part of "Resurrection Manor" . To his son CUTHBERT he left part of "Hopewell's Chance" and part of "Abell's Chance". His daughter MARY received personalty. CUTHBERT ABELL then named "my five children and grandchildren": children -CLARKE, PHILIP, CUTHBERT, MARGARET, MARY HALL, and grandchildren - REBECCA HALL and MATHEW ABELL

CUTHBERT ABELL served as a Captain in the American Revolution. At St. Andrew's on 2/1/1785 he married MARY MILBURN SIMMONS, the daughter of JOHN SIMMONS. He served in the St. Mary's County Militia in 1794. CUTHBERT ABELL died 12/2/1794 leaving a will, naming his wife MARY and his children FRANCIS, MATTHEW, and MARY SIMMONS ABELL. In the balance of final distribution his widow MARY MILBURN ABELL received her one third and the children the residue of the estate , valued at £473.17.03 3/4 (BFD JJ&JR142). In 10/1795 MARY MILBURN ABELL was named guardian of her minor children (Orphan's Proceedings 1777-1801:232).

EDMUND ABELLwas born in St. Mary's County, Maryland, the son of JOHN ABELL (13) and JANE RALE Y. He married ELIZABETH THOMPSON, the daughter of JOHN THOMPSON, the joiner. Their oldest known daughter was baptized at St. Andrew's. EDMUND ABELL took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 before HENRY REEDER. The family moved to Nelson County, Kentucky where the marriages of their daughters took place, Both marriage records state they were the daughters of EDMUND ABELL.

On 1/16/1734 he received 97 acres of "Chance Conclusion" from his father JOHN ABELL, which became "Chance Conclusion with Amendment". He married ELIZABETH HORNE, the daughter of JOHN HORNE who died by 1750 (Inv 44:243). On 3/4/1752 ANN, the widow of JOHN HORNE, and her second husband JAMES DAFFIN made the final distribution of JOHN HORNE's estate. JOHN HORNE heirs were ELIZABETH A. and ANN HORNE (BFD 1:29).
EDWARD ABELL was a Vestryman and Church Warden for William and Mary Anglican Parish on 9/3/17 50. EDWARD ABELL, SR. was the administrator of the estate of RICHARD SLOWERS in 1769 and his son JOHN HORNE ABELL was a surety (BFD 5:138}.

According to the Calvert Papers on 3/21/1762 EDWARD ABELL, JR. possessed 75 acres of "Beaverdam Manor". He married secondly ANASTASIA PAYNE, the daughter of JOHN PAYNE. ANASTASIA died after the birth of their daughter. At St. Andrew's on 11/7/1778 he married thirdly ANASTASIA TAYLOR. Their daughters were baptized at St. Andrew's. EDWARD ABELL was a Captain in the American Revolution. Some of the acreage he owned was a part of St. Joseph's Manor. In the 1790 census he is listed with his wife, one son, three daughters and twelve slaves. EDWARD ABELL died in 1809 in St, Mary's County leaving a will. Their children and their dates of birth are taken from a Bible record. The balance of final distribution of his estate was recorded on 9/17 /1811. By then his four oldest children were deceased (BFD JJ&JR331-332).

THOMAS DAVIS was to administer the estate of ELEANOR PEACOCK according to his inventory of 4/9/1712 (33B:213), but he was deceased prior to administering her estate. SAMUEL ABELL and MARY PEACOCK were named as the next of kin on the inventory of THOMAS DAVIS. On 6/29/1714 JOHN ABELL administered the estate of ELEANOR PEACOCK and of THOMAS DAVIS (Acc't 36A:159).

The names of their children have been taken from St. Andrew's Church records and JOHN BOOTH ABELL's estate distribution. JOHN BOOTH ABELL died by 12/16/1811 . In the balance of final distribution of his estate his widow received her one third and his children each received $126.97 6/7 (BFD JJ&JF:332-333).

ENOCH ABELL was a 1st Lieutenant during the American Revolution (ARCHIVES OF MARYLAND 16:346). He is probably the ENOCH ABELL who took the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 before RICHARD BARNES. ENOCH ABELL died in 1784.
