He came to Iowa at the age of fourteen years, in 1851. He married Margaret A. Parker on March 14, 1872, she dying seven years later in 1879. Four children were born to this union, Leonard who died in infancy, Jasper of Eddyville, S.B. of Jerone, Iowa and a daughter Nellie, wife of C.F. Moore of Eldon. The three children were present at the funeral. Of his seven brothers that survive him, Thomas Allison of Corydon, S.B. Allison of Cedar and Joshua Allison of Kirkville. The funeral services were conducted from the home of his son Jasper on Second Street Wednesday afternoon, September 3rd, Rev. A.S. Kilbourn officiated at the funeral. Appropriate songs were sung by Mesdames T.A. Ott and Carl Powell. Interment was made in Highland cemetery. (From the Eddyville Tribune, FRIDAY, September 5, 1919)
