- MARGARET TARTER
A funeral service will be held for Margaret Helen Tarter, 102 of Chico, on Friday, March 16 2007, at 10 a.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. She passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007.
Margaret was born April 3, 1904, to George and Mabel Garrison in St. Paul, Minn. She remembered moving to Chico on the day of Annie Bidwell's funeral in 1918. She attended Chico Normal Training School, Chico High School and Healds Business College.
She married Wade Tarter in 1932. Margaret worked as a secretary for Lawyer Harry David for seven years after her husband lost an arm in a hunting accident. Wade and Margaret were cattle ranchers and had a ranch near Chester and one at Vina. She loved being a ranchers wife, cooking for cowboys, living outdoors and spending summers at the Ruffa Ranch.
She was a member of the Josephine Chico Chapter of Eastern Star #104 and was Past Deputy Grand Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Margaret enjoyed gardening and working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade in 1982 and her brothers: Elsworth and Orie Garrison.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Shriners Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
