Obituary for John B Ward: The Edina Sentinal,Thursday, 5 June 1924 - DEATH OF AGED KENWOOD MAN - John Ward, 84 died at home of his son and was buried at Millport. John Ward, 84 years old, and almost a life long resident of Knox County, died early last Thursday morning at the home of his son, Glen Ward, who lives on the home place, six miles north of Hurdland near Kenwood. He had been sick for seven or eight months of leakage of the heart. He was a resident of that section of the country the last thirty seven years. Funeral services were at the home Friday afternoon. Burial was in the Millport Cemetery, northeast of Edina. He is survived by a wife, and six children by a former marriage: Frank Ward, Oren Ward, Glen Ward, and Prent Ward, all of the home vicinity, and Mrs. John Bauyan of southeast of Hurdland and Mrs. Mime Vail of Wyoming. Mr. Ward was born in Illinois, but came to Knox County when only a boy. He had lived near Millport before moving to his present home. His first wife was Miss Josephine Boltz, who died twelve years ago, Afterwards he married Miss Clydie Painter, who survives. ..... John was a member of the 21st Regiment of Missouri volunteers, Company D of the Union forces for the Civil War.
