- Born in Lodi California to Frederick and Rosella Sperling, Tony graduated from Lodi High School, participating in baseball, football and basketball. He was the star quarterback and played alongside his brother Jerry, on a team that saw much success, and Tony was eventually inducted into the Lodi High Hall of Fame for sports.
After high School Tony and Jerry played on the Lodi Legion baseball team and Tony was offered a position with the LA Dodgers organization, but since he had already started a family he was unable to relocate and feed his family on the low starting pay. Tony instead dove into the construction business and within a couple years he moved to Reno, Nevada where he soon was a successful manager of Sacramento Insulation Contractors, located in Sparks Nevada.
Tony became a major player in the construction industry in Northern Nevada and was highly admired and respected by his peers. Upon retiring from full time business, he continued working for many years as an independent contractor estimating huge jobs that only someone of his expertise could handle.
Upon his retirement he got remarried to the current love of his life, Mary Orlady Sperling, who helped him enjoy the finer side of life in full retirement. Tony Sperling first married his Lodi High School sweetheart Priscilla Sperling (now deceased) in his early twenties and they had four children; their son Crist Sperling who now resides in Alabama, their daughter Joy Waldron Sperling who precedes him in death, their son Vince Sperling who resides in Florida, and their son Mitch, who resides in Reno Nevada.
Tony was later married to Patti Sperling and together they raised her three kids, Tami, Dennis, and Regina. Tony leaves behind his current wife Mary Orlady Sperling and her son Lewis; his brother Jerry Sperling and his wife Rosie of Lodi, his sister Jackie Lopez of Sacramento and his brother Terry and his wife Mary Lou of Sacramento. Tony also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His memorial was in Reno, Nevada on January 17, 2015, and was attended by his family members and friends.
