Bertha Marie Watson
Bertha Marie Watson, age 94, a lifelong resident of Edina, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 2, 1996 at the Knox County Nursing Home at Edina, Missouri.
The daughter of James Jasper and Catherine Collins Allen, she was born May 15, 1902 at Edina, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Ray Roosevelt Watson on July 12, 1924 at Monticello, Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1967.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Warford and her husband, W. J. of Rayton, Missouri, a son-in-law, Jerome Kurth and his wife Betty of North Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Marilyn Warford Jones and her husband Kirk of Blue Springs, Missouri, Cindy Kurth Davis and her husband Donnie of Edina, Missouri and Craig Kurth and his wife Ellen of Blue Springs, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Jones, Leah and Meagan Davis and Alexandria and Zachary Kurth; one sister, Clara Allen Reese of Pineville, Missouri, a special sister-in-law, Myrtle Allen of Edina, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her father in 1905, her mother on September 1, 1962, a step-father, Luther Burch in 1945 and a daughter, Ruth Ann Watson Kurth on November 19, 1992; five brothers, Charles Robert Allen, Edward Allen both in infancy, John Allen in 1963, Ode J. Allen in 1985 and Emmet F. Allen in 1988 and one sister, Mary Estella Allen in infancy.
She was reared in Edina, Missouri, and graduated from the Edina High School in 1923. She was employed as a sales clerk for the Sandknop Department Store at Edina, Missouri for many years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Edina, Missouri. She was a life member of the United Methodist Women and had served as president many terms. She was also a Charter member of the M. C. Literary Club, past member of the P.E.O., Edina Extension Club and the Priscella Club.
Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery at Edina, Missouri.
