Don E. Trenholm, 61, of Makinen died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in University Medical Center-Mesabi, Hibbing. Service: 1 p.m. Friday in Palo Congregational Church with the Rev. Randy Melhus officiating.

- DON TRENHOLM OBITUARY
Don E. Trenholm, 61, of Makinen died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing. He was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Oroville, Calif., to Edward and Genevieve (Cannard) Trenholm. He moved to Virginia as a young boy and attended school there. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. On July 23, 1960, he married Christine Carol Walkama in Virginia. They moved to Makinen in 1961. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a volunteer friver for Meals on Wheels and volunteered for the Better Breathers at University Medical Center-Mesabi. He was a 32-year member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 49. He is survived by his wife, Christine "Chris"; a son, Wayne (Lori) Trenholm of Makinen; three grandchildren, Dannelle, Nikki, and Sheralyn; and a sister, Joan (Gary) Herbertson of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Renee, in 1982; his mother, Genevieve, in 1986; and his father, Edward, in 1950.
