According to the records officially obtained by Walter Edward Wiese from the St. Paul Children's Home Society on July 18, 1933, he was named THOMAS CARTER and was born to MARGARET CARTER, age 26, Irish Catholic and SARSFIELD WILLIAMSON, age 26, Irish laborer on March 29, 1911. His mother took him to the Children's Home Society in August of 1911 stating that the father had deserted the family and that she ws unable to care for the child. When the Wiese family adopted him on Nov. 14, 1912 the court allowed his name to be changed to WALTER EDWARD WIESE. It is interesting to note that after receiving this information he named his son Thomas Carter, as did his daughter, Sandra, who also named one of her sons Thomas Carter.
