OBITUARY -- SERGEANT CHARLES M. L. JUSTICE -- Killed in battle near Alexandria, La., April 28, Quartermaster's Sergeant Charles M. L. Justice, of the Fourteenth regiment New York Calvary, aged twenty-three years and eight months, son of Mrs. William Blondel and grandson of the late Governor John Broome, of this State. Sergeant Justice, who was for a time a resident of this city, where he received the greater part of his education, moved a few years since to Illinois, where he enlisted early in 1861 in the veteran regiment fo the West, the Eleventh Illinois, in which regiment he served for twenty-two months, until being severely wounded, he was discharged. Upon the formation of the Fourteenth regiment New York calvary, having recovered from his wounds, Sergeant Justice again enlisted for the third time. He had been in thirteen battles, and in communicating the intelligence of the death of this brave and patriotic young soldier, his commanding officer states officially 'that he fell while showing a gallant and heroic example to his comrades in arms.'
