Service for Max Alsdorf, 78, of Truman was held Friday afternoon, Sept. 18 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Alsdorf died Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, 1992 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Max Emil Alsdorf, the son of Emil and Maria (Gottner) Alsdorf was born Nov. 22, 1913 at Lasdehnen, Germany. He received his education in Germany and in 1928 immigrated to the United States, where he had relatives living near Ceylon, MN. Max married Viola Luckow on Feb. 28, 1943 at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. He and his wife farmed in Tenhassen Township, Martin County, Minnesota before moving to Truman in 1987. He was also employed at Armour's in Fairmnt from 1965 to 1975. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Wilbert, rural Ceylon.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Melvin and Ron Alsdorf, both of Fairmont; one daughter, Karen (Leslie) Burkhow of Truman; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fritz and Walter Alsdorf, both in Germany; two sisters, Elizabeth Drulnsky of Germany and Erika Urbschat of Bernardsville, NJ. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lydia Alsdorf and Helen Alsdorf.
