Death Takes Walter Smith
Walter E. Smith, 65, died suddenly at the home of W. D. Schreiner, 1320 Walla Walla avenue Friday afternoon. He was helping Schreiner in laying a sidewalk and had worked only about an hour. It was stated he was either overcome by the heat or had a heart attack.
Smith was born in Kansas and came west when a young man living in Eugene, Salem, and Portland for about 20 years before coming to Walla Walla 24 years ago. He was assistant manager at the Washington apartments where he had lived for four years.
He leaves his wife, Lulu E Smith, Walla Walla, and two step-children. Mrs. Fred C. Wilson, and Louis Hawks of the U.S. army now in California.
